Yet another reason why I don’t shop at Wal-Mart

As if I needed one.

Slate.com has an article in reaction to the recent Wall Street Journal report on Wal-Mart brass putting pressure on its employees to vote Republican. Apparently, Wal-Mart believes that Democrats are inherently bad for their business, even though when Clinton was Prez their stock tripled and under Bush’s watch it has barely moved at all.

Wal-Mart assumes all Dems automatically support unions and if they gain control they’ll make it easier for unions to take hold in places like Wal-Mart. This would seem rather simplistic logic. Of course, their clumsy attempts to influence their employees also seems to suggest that they believe that their workers are stupid, but they’re not.

“I am not a stupid person,” a Wal-Mart customer-service supervisor told the Journal. “They were telling me how to vote.”

Smooth move assholes!
